About

The story behind the spin

Tanoura is more than a dance. It is a meditation in motion — a whirling prayer of colour, light and rhythm passed down through generations.

The Tanoura artist in traditional embroidered costume

Raised in a family of Egyptian folk performers, our artist first stepped into the Tanoura skirt at the age of eleven. What began as a childhood fascination with the endless spin became a lifelong devotion to one of the world's most hypnotic traditional dances.

After years performing at Cairo's cultural houses, Nile cruises and international festivals, he made Athens his home — bringing an authentic Egyptian art form to Greek audiences, hotel guests and travellers from around the world.

Every performance is crafted around its setting: the intimacy of a private villa, the grandeur of a hotel ballroom, the open sky of a rooftop with the Acropolis glowing in the distance. The costumes are hand-embroidered, the LED-lit skirts custom-built, and the music arranged live for each occasion.

Beyond the stage, he teaches. Workshops for children, families, schools and corporate teams turn spectators into participants — because culture is best understood when you feel it in your own body.
